Is it really surprising? I don't know what sort of place you were before, but Verens is a peaceful town, most of the time anyway. No one would want to disturb the peace with that.

Perhaps a task from the taskboard? Or pick up a casual hobby. Doing those might help to find something you might enjoy doing. It had helped me, at least.
